The two additional Googlereader blogs I read were:
1. Five Innovative Science Apps
http://edudemic.com/2013/04/innovative-science-apps-for-elementary-students/
2. 10 Online Resources to Inspire Writers of Any Age
http://edudemic.com/2013/05/online-resources-to-inspire-writers-of-any-age/
The first one "Five Innovative Science Apps" was my favorite additional blog. I enjoy learning about science but as the author stated, it can be difficult to teach at times. Science is such a demanding hands on subject, the apps mentioned in the blog post as resources in this blog were truly amazing in capturing that hands on experience feel for the students. As the author said, field trips can become expensive, and having students utilize these apps, makes for a more meaningful and engaging learning experience.
My favorite app from the blog post was the Video Science app. According to the blog post, this app is "basically a library of hands on science lessons via video. Currently free, the app offers over 80 videos on topics ranging from chemical changes to various aspects of engineering, it can offer some visually interesting experiments that you might not be able to do in your classroom. While many of the concepts are much more complicated than you’d explain to an elementary level students, these are fun experiments that help to get the basics across." I think this app is just too cool. I would love to incorporate this app into a future lesson.
